Six-Week Spring Conservatory
April 23rd to June 1st, 2018
The Margolis Method 6-Week Conservatory is a unique opportunity to train intensively and create new work with award-winning theatre artist Kari Margolis and artists from around the world, while partaking in all the cultural mecca of Barcelona has to offer.
The Conservatory is developed for serious artists with a hunger for a rigorous, personalized training experience and a desire to create new work. Each day will be committed to training in Margolis Method’s integrated approach to merging physical and vocal expression in order to build a more empowered theatre artist who can manifest emotions, make more powerful character choices and create on their feet.
The last hour of each day will be devoted to creating an original ensemble work to be presented at the end of the Conservatory.
Monday through Friday
- 10am to 1pm - training
- 1pm to 2pm - creative development & rehearsal
Location: Fabra i Coats (carrer de Sant Adrià 20, 08030 Barcelona)
A Growing Program
Margolis Method BCN is under the Direction of theatre artist and scholar Boris Daussà-Pastor. Margolis Method has had a growing presence in Barcelona since 2010, when Kari Margolis began leading annual master classes, extended workshops and performance projects that merged Barcelona artists with MB ADAPTORS ensemble members. Kari has been a Guest Artist with AADPC, The Association of Professional Actors and Directors of Catalunya and AISGE, the Performers Management Society.
Together Kari and Boris created the Barcelona Study Abroad Program, which has been running successfully since 2014. The Program combines intensive actor training with a cultural exploration of all Barcelona has to offer.
With a plan to open a full-time training program and ongoing performance projects, 2017 will see an expansion of our programming that includes ongoing classes, the first International Margolis Method Conference, Study Abroad and a new Six-Week Conservatory.
Since October 2016, bi-weekly classes have been led by Margolis Method Barcelona Program Director Boris Daussà-Pastor with Núria Olivé and Gema Sala. You can learn more about them on our Faculty Page.
A dedicated group of professional theatre artists and students have been participating in these classes from their inception joined by new training artists each session.
Classes take place in Barcelona, at Fabra i Coats (carrer de Sant Adrià 20, 08030 Barcelona), twice a week. Students can register for one or for two classes a week. Every fourth week the students present mini-projects, as it marks the end of a four-week session devoted to a particular subject.
